Dreams Walking In Broad Daylight

...and I whispered to the horse; trust no man in whose eye
you do not see yourself reflected as an equal.

Rockets' Red Glare ("Rocket") , the bright bay horse, is my second horse. I bought him in May of 1998. He is a morgan x standardbred cross and is kind of a little horse at just over 14.2 hands high (58" at the shoulders and a giant among ponies). Rocket is the most beautifully colored bright bay I have ever seen. He can go English and western (he can even neck rein) and he can jump 4 foot jumps (impressive for his size!). Rocket can also drive . Rocket is a horse who can do a little of everything, but he is really most talented at cart driving. He acts and looks like he was born to drive and he loves it. Rocket has the signature morgan trot and that is just perfect for driving. He can totally fly around the ring -- his trot is honestly as fast as a typical horse can canter. If I knew of a track where they ran amateur harness racing, boy could Rocket and I win some money! Rocket is even trustworthy to ride bareback with just a halter and a rope! I can go out into the field to get him and ride him bareback to the gate if I want. Pretty cool horse!

Sky and Jill
Sky -- My Beloved First Horse -- My Dream Come True
Born approximately 1977 - Passed Away on June 8, 2007
He changed my world and is forever a part of me...

Touch The Sky ("Sky") is an Arabian / Quarter Horse cross ( quarab ). He is the first horse I have ever owned. Sky is an extremely beautiful horse. He is very comfortable to ride and has an arabian's head, tail and floating gait with the big solid body of a good quarter horse. Sky is 15.2 hands high (62" at the shoulders). Sky is quite smart, sensitive and spoiled nearly rotten. He is almost coal black in winter and dark bay in summer. I usually ride Sky with an Australian saddle, but he can also go English and sort of western. For any of you out there that acquired your first horse as an adult, maybe you can relate to all of the mistakes I have made with Sky! Storybook horses are not that akin to the real live variety! Sky's amazingly smart and that worked to his advantage in regards to riding because he quickly figured out what to do in order to cut our rides short (horses are basically lazy animals). It was hard to learn how to handle him when all I wanted to do was baby him and hug him -- and also, I was kind of scared to be too firm with him. At about 1,100 pounds, he's a pretty big animal! Finally, after years of being Sky's person, Sky is now also my horse and we're finally becoming a great team. I now know him like the back of my hand and it's been forever since I had an fears of being firm with him when need be. I just needed to be around horses for awhile before I realized that they respect (and I think love) you more when you are firmly in charge.
